Engine-based gensets are among the fastest-selling, least expensive
distributed generation technology in the world, with diesel-fueled gensets
poised for continued development in most regions and energy classes. However ,
diesel is actually facing increasing competition through natural gas generators
in certain marketplaces, concludes a new report coming from Navigant
Research.
Continued progress in the supply of unconventional fuel resources
and tightening rules targeting stationary generator emissions may signal a
change toward cleaner-burning natural gas techniques over their diesel
alternatives. In the short term, though, countries along with strong economic
and/or populace growth rates that are progressively burdened by unreliable power
company infrastructure and blackouts will certainly continue to drive diesel
genset sales.
