Yanmar Marine International (YMI) is actually showing its new selection of
common-rail fuel injected sea diesel engines rated with regard to leisure marine
and workboat applications at METS 2015 in Amsterdam on Nov 17-19 on Stand 01.
331. Topping the bill of recent inboards is its in-line six-cylinder is rated in
440 mhp at three, 300 rpm. This is the globe marine-trade debut for the brand
new unit, which will also be provided in a 400 mhp edition and will go into full
creation early in 2016.
The actual 6LY440 and 6LY400 get their predecessors'
narrow and light-weight block, the compact user profile for which enabled it to
become installed in small filled engine rooms. Single mechanised injector units
are changed by a Denso digitally-controlled common-rail fuel injection system
along with new pipe work designed to deal with higher injection pressures. The
particular 24-valve cylinder head will be new, as is the outlet and exhaust
manifold created for optimal engine breathing as well as high torque output
through the entire engine's operating range.
Typically the electronically
managed engine can also be designed with all the benefits of plug and play
operation, using Yanmar's Boat Control System (VCS), which provides the options
of wireless handles and fingertip low-speed manoeuvring with the company's
advanced termes conseillés.
"The new common-rail 6LY engines build on the
Yanmar tradition of producing state-of-the-art small and powerful marine diesels
that are class-leading in overall performance, fuel efficiency, low emissions,
and smooth, quiet and also dependable running, " states Floris Lettinga, YMI
worldwide sales manager. "The 440 mhp version has a power-to-weight ratio of 1.
7: one (kW per kg) and it is not only an advance more than that of the previous
6LY versions, but is also ahead of the like-for-like engines all of its main
competitors in the leisure ocean propulsion market today. inch
Other new
common-rail diesel powered engines on the YMI remain include four-cylinder
models through the company's electronic JH-CR collection engine family. Launched
earlier this year, these span the actual 45-110 mhp power variety and the
company says they may be are the smallest CR-injected inboard marine diesel
engines available on the market.
"The first customer replies to these new
engines happen to be overwhelmingly positive, " Lettinga says. "We asked a
number of boat sales managers and were unanimous that these motors set a new
standard. Often the combination of less vibration, inter-connectivity with chart
plotters together with added functionality, and not having to cope with exhaust
gas fumes is really remarkable, they tell us. inches
He adds: "Those that
have already got to know the brand new engine family say that, certainly, this
sets a new regular in sailboat auxiliary ardeur. Not one of the sales managers
who we asked wants to return to mechanical fuel injected machines. No longer
will they need to show boaters that they have to accept wear out gas fumes and
cannot enjoy the electronic connectivity they have come to expect in their house
environment! "
The common-rail theme on the YMI stay is rounded out using the
4. 46-litre V8 diesel-powered 8LV370Z with optional termes conseillés control,
which develops 370 mhp at 3, eight hundred rpm and is mated having a Yanmar's
own ZT370 sterndrive renowned for super-soft equipment shifting with its
specially-designed hydraulic clutch.
