BRAND NEW DELHI: As many as fifteen electrical buses
based on economically practical battery technology are being created in
collaboration with ISRO and they would be on highways within six months on a
preliminary basis, Road Transport as well as Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari
said today.
"It continues to be decided to design electric
transport system for buses within collaboration with ISRO. The actual Ministry
is committed to market research and innovation and you may anticipate some
breakthrough in certain six to twelve months, inch Gadkari said.
The Indian native Space Research Organisation (ISRO)
has already developed lithium ion electric battery for use in satellites after
collaboration with it, the work is on testing these battery packs to find what
modifications are essential to use them for car, he said.
"My concentrate is to convert the existing busses
running on costly brought in fuel to electric and that we plan to start a pilot
task to test about 15 chartering in State Transport Companies within six months.
The Ministry would fund the job, " he said.
This individual said such buses is not going to check
pollution by reducing carbon emissions specially inside urban areas but would
reduce on huge import expenses as the nation suffers due to foreign exchange
outgo.
It will also assist state transport bodies to slice
losses because of high cost of energy, he said adding, "Pollution is one of the
major problems and also alternative is to adopt cleanser fuel and vehicle
technology. "
Elaborating on the endeavours to check pollution, he
stated the Ministry has already informed standards for registration associated
with bio-ethanol, bio-CNG engines along with besides notifying standards with
regard to bio-diesel while already ethanol-run bus is being tested throughout
Nagpur.
Earlier, he had declared bio-friendly fuel will slice
on huge crude importance bills to the tune regarding Rs 8 lakh crore per
annum.
