The actual Intelligent Speed Application (ISA) uses GPS
technology attached to buses.
It tracks the actual vehicles' positions on a
electronic map showing the speed restrict for the roads they are venturing on
and restricts their motors accordingly.
More than 1, eight hundred people have been killed or
even badly hurt by Greater london buses over a five-year time period.
Road hazards
Transport with regard to London (TfL) said ISA would
come into force upon 47 London buses through next month.
It said the device would allow drivers to focus on
possible road hazards rather than needing to constantly check their
speedometers, and has been welcomed through pedestrian campaigners.
TfL examined a different form of ISA automobile
speed-limiting technology on a London, uk bus in 2009 but did not go ahead with
it because the program could be overridden. In the most recent trial the speed
limiter is actually connected directly to the motor and is automatic.
