Wärtsilä
Qiyao Diesel Company (WQDC), Wärtsilä's joint venture in Shanghai, has reported
A prototype was ready for testing by WQDC last year.delivery of its first Auxpac
16 gensets to the Chinese market.
The
sets will be installed in a series of bulk carriers being built by Guoyu
Shipyard for Singapore shipowner Pioneer.
Auxpac
16 has been designed as an auxiliary engine for a variety of vessel types,
and its powerful output with compact design makes it especially suited to small
bulkers, tankers, and container vessels needing auxiliary power in the 630
kWe/genset range.
The
Auxpac 16, a medium-speed, small-bore (160 mm) six-cylinder HFO auxiliary
genset, is the smallest in its range. It was designed specifically for the
Chinese market, having been developed by Wärtsilä in partnership with the
Shanghai Marine Diesel Engine Research Institute since 2011. It used engineering
and design experience from the Wärtsilä Auxpac 20.
